Dear Jim,

Just a quick note to let you know that I am much better. The operation went well and the broken bone should be in the right position now, at least that is what they told me. I am out of hospital and you know you can phone me at any time, whichever time is good for you. I hope I’ll be alright by August, so I can come and see all the tennis matches with you and maybe even play some.

I asked Dad to get those books for you, the ones you could not find at Longman's there. He found them easily and I am sending them off to you now, so let's hope you will get them in time. Happy reading, don't overdo it, nevertheless! Lots of luck with the exam!

They told me I should take it easy for the time being, but next week I should try and take a few steps. I can stand on the leg now, but must not step on it too heavily, doctor's orders! Anyway, I think I will need to go on reading, too, you see, I also decided to try and take the exam next month. After all, I have got all the time in the world now so, why not devote it to studying? Thanks again for all your help! You know it was much appreciated, don't you? I am looking forward to seeing you here in two weeks' time. I can't say time is flying, but I wish it was!
